SITA is fully committed to protecting our natural environment.
Included in all of our training courses is the emphasis on environmental compliance and oversight. The topics range from the complexity and diversity of the marine environment, marine ecology, impact of shipping on the environment, environmental impacts of shipboard waste, discharge and spills, environmental regulations, environmental compliance plans, environmental management systems, sustainable shipping and the role of the human element in pollution prevention.
Environmental Awareness
William’s diving instructor career began in 1995 at Pro Diving Services as a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre Course Director as well as managing the onshore commercial diving services on-the-job training department.
He has had previous involvement with the Singapore Underwater Federation (“SUF”) as their technical advisor and has contributed heavily in the Executive Council as the scientific officer on the Marine Conservation Campaign and the national diving officer on the Diving Safety Program.
He was appointed into the working group for the revision of SS511: 2005 Code of Practice for Diving at Work and a founding member of the Commercial Diving Association of Singapore (“CDAS”).
He is currently the appointed Terengganu Safety Training Centre (“TSTC”) and International Diving Academy (“IDA”) chief trainer in Malaysia for occupational diving courses such as but not limited to the Public Safety Diving for Bomba Malaysian Firemen, Topside Welder Conversion to Underwater Welders, Diving Equipment Maintenance Technician in accordance with Construction Industry Development Board (“CIDB”), Australian Diving Accreditation Scheme (“ADAS”) and International Technical Diving Agency UK (“ITDA”) standards.
Amid his busy schedule, he continues to write for diving magazines and be an active speaker at regional diving conferences and exhibitions.
After nearly 40 years of high seas seafaring, leisure, and occupational scuba diving training, William Ong Boon Hong acquired funding to start his first commercial diving training company in his homeland Singapore.
After years of adventure, exploring, and travelling with his passion. William has dedicated his life to the ocean and inspired many working in his field.
